Johan Norberg makes documentary for UK Channel 4

Johan Norberg, author and Timbro associate, has been commissioned by British television to script and present a documentary on the benefits of globalisation. Freeform Productions is producing the documentary for Channel 4, for telecasting during the fall of 2003.

The documentary will be based on Norberg’s pro-globalisation book In Defence of Global Capitalism, which has garnered massive plaudits on the international scene, e.g. from the Financial Times, The Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

This has made Johan Norberg the obvious choice for concretising the frequently abstract discussion of globalisation. Using hands-on examples, the documentary will point to the importance of globalisation for freedom and prosperity in the Third World. In the making of it, Norberg will be visiting several countries on various continents.

The original, Swedish version of In Defence of Global Capitalism, first published in May 2001, is now into its third printing. Timbro published the English edition a year ago. A Dutch edition was released earlier this month, and French, German, Greek and Turkish versions are currently in preparation.
